Three Terrorists Killed in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir in Joint Operation by Indian Army and Police
Three terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation after receiving specific intelligence inputs on August 27 about infiltration attempts from the Karnah and Kumkadi sectors.
On the evening of August 28, suspicious movements were detected in both sectors, leading to gunfire that continued into the early hours of August 29. Two bodies were recovered in Kumkadi and one in Karnah during search operations the next morning.
This is the sixth operation in Kupwara this year, resulting in the killing of 10 terrorists, including foreign infiltrators. Earlier today, another terrorist was killed in a joint anti-infiltration operation in the Tangdhar area of Kupwara.
Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander Northern Command, visited forward areas along the Line of Control in the Sunderbani Sector to review the security situation. He praised the synergy between security forces and their operational readiness. He also visited supporting units and troops in the hinterland, encouraging them to maintain high morale and professionalism.
