BJP candidate for the Srigufwara-Bijbehara Assembly Constituency, Sofi Yousuf, emphasized the party’s focus on development and the positive impact of the centre’s policies since 2014 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Yousuf praised PM Modi’s leadership, stating, “Under PM Modi, we have achieved significant progress in Jammu & Kashmir. Since the changes on August 5, 2019, we have seen a reduction in stone-pelting incidents, cross-firing, and separatist activities.”

Yousuf highlighted improvements in everyday life, saying, “Today, common people are living more comfortably. Tourists, hoteliers, labourers, and shopkeepers are all witnessing the benefits of our development efforts. There is a growing appreciation for PM Modi and his work among the people.”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir elections, which will be held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1. The Election Commission has issued a notification for the first phase of elections, with 24 seats going to the polls. Jammu and Kashmir is expected to witness multi-cornered contests on most seats. This is the first assembly poll since the abrogation of Article 370.
