Moscow [Russia], August 27: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin met with Indian Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, to discuss Moscow’s position on the ongoing Ukraine conflict. The meeting was described as trusting and constructive.
According to a statement from the Russian Embassy in India, the two sides reconciled approaches to certain international and bilateral issues. Galuzin explained Russia’s principled position on the Ukraine conflict to Kumar.
This meeting comes shortly after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ukraine on August 23, marking the first visit by an Indian PM to the war-hit nation since 1992. During his meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, PM Modi emphasized India’s stance on peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy, stating, “India was never neutral, we have always been on the side of peace.” He also expressed India’s readiness to play an active role in achieving peace and progress.
Russia and Ukraine have been at war since 2022. India has consistently advocated for peace and diplomacy to resolve the conflict. Prior to his visit to Ukraine, PM Modi also visited Russia in August and met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, reiterating that the conflict’s resolution could only be achieved through dialogue and diplomacy.
