The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has highlighted a ‘deep depression’ over East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh, which is expected to move towards the Saurashtra region and adjoining areas of Pakistan by August 29.

IMD has warned of a ‘high flash flood risk’ in East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat within the next 24 hours. Heavy rains have already caused flooding in Gujarat, particularly in Valsad, Tapi, Navsari, Surat, Narmada, and Panchmahal districts.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken with Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, assuring them of the central government’s support to manage the crisis. The Chief Minister has directed officials to evacuate people from low-lying areas to safer locations.

Additionally, the IMD has issued an orange warning for the northeastern districts of Odisha, including Mayurbhanj, Kendujhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Jajapur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur.
