Shri Krishna Janmashtami Celebrations Across India
On August 26, devotees across India celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, with great enthusiasm. Temples were adorned with colorful lights and flowers, and the sound of bells, mridangs, and conch shells filled the air.
Celebrations in Major Temples
In Ahmedabad, a large number of devotees gathered at the ISKCON Temple for the Darshan of Lord Krishna. Similarly, the ISKCON Temple in East of Kailash and Dwarka also saw huge crowds. In Mumbai, the morning aarti was performed at Chowpatty’s ISKCON Temple.
The Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple, also known as Birla Temple, held a special morning aarti. In Madhya Pradesh, the Jugal Kishore Ji Temple was beautifully lit up for the occasion. Manali’s Mall Road hosted a grand celebration event organized by ISKCON.
Security Measures in Mathura
In Mathura, where Krishna is believed to have spent his youth, extensive security measures were in place. Mathura Superintendent (Security) Bajrang Bali Chaurasia stated that over 2000 security personnel were deployed, and drones were used to ensure safety. The region was divided into three zones, each with additional security personnel. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also expected to visit.
Traditional Celebrations
Devotees traditionally fast and decorate temples and homes with flowers, diyas, and lights. The celebrations are especially grand in Mathura and Vrindavan, where Krishna’s childhood and youth are believed to have been spent.
