TMC Leader Kunal Ghosh Questions CBI in RG Kar Medical College Case

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], August 25: Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh has raised concerns about the slow progress in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case. He highlighted that only one arrest has been made by the Kolkata Police and questioned the role of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Ghosh stated, “The rape-murder case must be solved quickly. So far, only one arrest has been made, and that too by Kolkata Police. What is the CBI doing? As the investigation drags on, politics is taking over.”

Earlier today, CBI officials conducted a polygraph test on the arrested accused, Sanjay Roy, in connection with the case. The incident involves the rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

In a related development, Parimal Dey, a teacher from Alipurduar in West Bengal, who was honoured with the Banga Ratna award by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2019, has decided to return the award. He is protesting against the state government’s handling of the incident. Parimal said, “I have decided to return the Banga Ratna award. Given the protests that have occurred both in Bengal and outside, my conscience compels me to return it. I support the protests. The way Mamata Banerjee is running the administration is not right.”

Additionally, the West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum staged a protest in Tollygunge, demanding justice for the victim and urging the Kolkata administration to take responsibility.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ordered the security of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) while hearing the suo motu case concerning the rape and murder of the trainee doctor. The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9.
