Heavy Rains in Balochistan, Pakistan: 22 Dead, More Rain Expected
In Balochistan, Pakistan, heavy rains have resulted in the deaths of 22 people, including 11 children, and injured 13 others. The rains have affected over 5,000 individuals, damaged 158 homes, and partially damaged 622 more. Additionally, 102 acres of crops and 35 kilometers of roads have been affected by the flash floods. Seven bridges have been damaged, and 131 livestock have perished.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned of another monsoon spell from August 26-30. This spell is expected to impact Balochistan, Sindh, and southern Punjab, bringing heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Citizens are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
The PMD has issued a forecast for torrential rains, especially in the southern region, from August 25 to 29. A low-pressure weather system over West Bengal is likely to move westwards and may reach Pakistan’s southern coasts on August 25.
