Purnia MP Pappu Yadav Criticizes Central Government and Supports Rahul Gandhi

Patna (Bihar) [India], August 24: Independent MP from Bihar’s Purnia, Pappu Yadav, criticized the BJP-led central government over various issues and expressed his support for Rahul Gandhi. He stated, “We are supporting the INDIA alliance.”

Yadav accused the BJP of attacking the Constitution, mentioning issues like Agniveer, creamy layer, reservation, and the Waqf board. He also highlighted that Bihar was not given any special package in this year’s budget, unlike Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Yadav announced a Sankalp Yatra to be carried out after the assembly elections to address these issues and save the country and Bihar. He emphasized that only he and Congress could fight for special status for Bihar.

Criticizing the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill, Yadav said, “No Muslim organizations were consulted. The law was made to distribute lands to rich people.”

The first meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, saw heated exchanges between BJP and opposition members. Officials from the Minority Affairs ministry and the Ministry of Law and Justice provided detailed presentations and legal perspectives on the bill. Opposition members questioned the government’s intentions, calling the bill “unconstitutional” and “detrimental to the interests” of the Muslim community.
