Jammu Police Arrest Gang for Cab Driver’s Murder
Jammu Police have successfully resolved the case of Mangal Singh, a cab driver from Jammu, who was abducted and murdered. The police arrested a gang of interstate criminals from Ratia Fatehbad, Haryana.
Case Details
The case began when Mangal Singh’s brother filed a missing report on August 19, 2024, after Singh failed to return home from Katra. On August 21, the case was escalated with the filing of an FIR No. 228/2024 under Section 140 BNS, based on CCTV footage that suggested abduction.
Investigation
Jammu Police, led by SHO Nagrota and SHO Jhajjar Kotli and supervised by SP Rural Jammu, collected and analyzed CCTV footage, call data records, and hotel records in Katra. This led them to a crucial technical lead.
Arrests
The police team traveled to Sirsa, Haryana, and with the help of local police and the counter-intelligence unit, conducted raids at multiple locations. They arrested 11 accused involved in the crime and recovered the stolen vehicle.
Conclusion
The gang had conspired in Katra to abduct Mangal Singh and murdered him near Bajalta. The body was recovered in the presence of the victim’s family and local members. After a postmortem, the body was handed over to his legal heirs for the last rites.
