Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Inaugurates New Cardiology ICU at Silchar Medical College
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Silchar Medical College and Hospital on Saturday. He dedicated a new 20-bed cardiology ICU to patient care. This visit was part of his three-day tour of Barak Valley.
During his visit, he also reviewed the progress of a new 535-bed emergency building. This building, expected to be completed by November next year, will increase the hospital’s total bed capacity to approximately 1,885 beds, including ICU beds.
Chief Minister Sarma announced plans for another building with a 1,000-bed capacity at the hospital. He also evaluated the hospital’s ancillary services and directed officials to prepare a master plan for future expansion.
Key officials, including Guardian Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, MP Parimal Suklabaidya, MLAs Kaushik Rai and Dipayan Chakraborty, Principal Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, and other senior government officers, were present at the meeting.
