PTI and JUI-F Leaders Discuss Cooperation in Pakistan’s Parliament
A delegation from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) met with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman to discuss potential cooperation, according to sources. The two parties are considering ending their differences and working together.
During the meeting, PTI and JUI-F members discussed forming committees to facilitate joint efforts. PTI requested in-house cooperation within the Parliament, suggesting that they could challenge the government more effectively if they worked together.
JUI-F representatives stated that any decision would be made after thorough internal discussions. PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan confirmed that the talks included cooperation on important legislation within the parliament. JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri emphasized that committees have been formed to oversee parliamentary affairs and that talks would be ongoing.
Earlier, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi criticized the government’s actions against PTI and stressed the importance of recognizing Imran Khan’s role for political stability. He mentioned that numerous cases had been filed against him following the May 9 riots, which saw military installations vandalized. Qureshi also called for dialogue to resolve issues in Balochistan and defended the democratic credentials of PkMAP Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
