BJP to Decide Candidates for Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Elections
The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to meet on August 25 to choose candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. The meeting will take place at the party headquarters in New Delhi.
Jammu and Kashmir Elections
The Election Commission has announced the first phase of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, with voting scheduled for September 18 on 24 seats. The Union Territory will have elections in three phases.
Haryana Elections
In Haryana, elections for the 90 assembly constituencies will be held on October 1. The votes for both Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana will be counted on October 4.
Candidate Selection Process
The BJP recently held a two-day brainstorming session in Gurugram to finalize its candidates for the Haryana elections. Discussions were held on potential candidates for all 90 assembly seats. The Haryana unit of BJP has prepared a list of over 300 candidates, which will be presented to the Central Election Committee. Some constituencies have two or three names, while a few have up to five names.
