Rajnath Singh and Lloyd Austin Discuss Strengthening India-US Defense Ties
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to review current defense cooperation activities and explore ways to enhance their collaboration. Singh shared on social media, “Excellent meeting with my dear friend Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin. We reviewed the existing defence cooperation activities and discussed ways to deepen them further.”
The meeting included the signing of a Security of Supply Arrangement (SOSA) and an agreement for positioning Indian officers at key US commands. The SOSA was signed by Vic Ramdass for the US and Samir Kumar Sinha for India. This arrangement ensures reciprocal priority support for goods and services that promote national defense, helping both countries manage supply chain disruptions.
During his four-day visit to the US, Singh also interacted with the Indian diaspora, stating that India and the US together form a formidable force for global peace, prosperity, and stability. He described the two nations as natural allies with a continuously growing partnership. Singh highlighted India’s increased global stature under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, noting that India’s voice is now heard on the international stage.
