BJP Protests in West Bengal Over Trainee Doctor’s Tragic Death
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held a protest on Friday in West Midnapore, West Bengal, demanding justice for the rape and murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Protesters chanted, ‘We want justice.’

The Sealdah Court has granted permission for polygraph tests for the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, Dr. Sandip Ghosh, and five others, including four doctors and one civic volunteer. Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court has tasked the CBI with investigating irregularities at the college and the case of former Deputy Superintendent Akhtar Ali. The court has ordered the SIT to hand over investigation documents to the CBI by August 24, with a progress report due on September 17.

To maintain law and order, Kolkata police have imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, around the Medical College and Hospital from August 18 to August 24.
