Bomb Threats in Delhi and Gurugram Malls: Police Investigate
On August 20, several shopping malls in New Delhi, including Chanakya Mall, Select CityWalk, Ambience Mall, DLF, Cine Polis, Pacific Mall, Primus Hospital, and Unity group, received bomb threat emails. The emails stated, ‘The explosive will go off in few hours.’
The mall authorities quickly informed the Delhi police, who initiated an investigation. Bomb Disposal Squads and fire tenders were deployed to the locations, but no bombs have been found yet.
A senior police officer mentioned that the initial investigation suggests a similar pattern in the threatening emails, which lacked specific datelines. The investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, on August 17, Ambience Mall in Gurugram received a similar bomb threat email. Gurugram police, including the bomb detection and disposal squad, dog squad, and SWAT team, conducted a thorough search but found nothing suspicious. ACP Vikas Kaushik stated that cyber teams are tracking the email sender, and legal action will be taken against those spreading false information.
Additionally, on August 2, a school in Delhi’s Greater Kailash area received a bomb threat email. The Delhi police investigated but found nothing suspicious. Legal action was initiated in this case as well.
