Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 19: Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao on Monday criticized Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for approving prosecution against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a case of alleged corruption involving land allotment to his wife by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

Gundurao urged the governor to leave Karnataka, warning that the Congress would fight against him. He also accused BJP state president BY Vijayendra and JD(S) leader and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy of corruption. Gundurao claimed that Vijayendra “has done his PhD in corruption” and that Kumaraswamy has “blackmail skills.”

“HD Kumaraswamy has hatched a conspiracy by joining a group of thieves. Corruption and Vijayendra are not different; both are the same. Those who were born in corruption, grew up in corruption are speaking about corruption,” Gundurao said.

Karnataka Congress held protests opposing the governor’s sanctions against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at Freedom Park and all district centers in Karnataka on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court on Monday instructed the trial court not to take any precipitative action against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah based on the Governor’s sanction in the MUDA ‘scam’ until the next hearing on August 29. Justice M Nagaprasanna’s bench stated that the trial court should defer its proceedings to avoid frustrating the ongoing High Court proceedings.

The bench’s order stated, “It was argued that the proceedings before the trial court are up for orders on whether a sanction should be granted to prosecute the Chief Minister. Any order permitting action to proceed further against the Chief Minister would frustrate the proceedings before this court. Since the proceedings are pending before this court, the trial court shall defer its proceedings till the next date of hearing. There shall be no precipitative action qua these complaints.”
