Fayajul Hazarika Arrested in Guwahati for Impersonating CBI Officer and Extorting Money
A man named Fayajul Hazarika, also known as Denish, was arrested in the Jalukbari area of Guwahati for pretending to be a CBI officer and extorting money from people. He used fake police uniforms, I-cards, badges, and toy pistols to deceive others.
Guwahati Commissioner of Police, Diganta Barah, stated that Hazarika had been collecting money from people by promising them jobs. He was arrested on Sunday night, and his accomplice, Gautam Saikia, who allowed the use of his vehicle, was also apprehended.
During a search of Hazarika’s room in the Six Mile area, police found a pair of police uniforms, two toy pistols, a CBI I-card, and badges. Hazarika had been operating in this manner for the past seven months, recently identifying himself as Assam Police personnel.
A case has been registered at Jalukbari Police Station, and necessary legal steps have been initiated.
