External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized the need for UN reforms during the Third Voice of Global South Summit hosted by India. He highlighted the importance of text-based negotiations and democratic choices among UN members.

Answering questions after the summit, Jaishankar said, “Is there growing sentiment for UN reforms, to me absolutely. I think there are many specific ideas, different groups of countries have their own ideas, so the exercise is to find a way of reconciling that to best possible and then subjecting it to a democratic choice.”

The summit saw participation from 123 countries, including 21 heads of state and 118 ministers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi made opening and closing remarks, reinforcing India’s vision of global cooperation.
