Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], August 17: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut announced that Uddhav Thackeray never said he would become the Chief Minister and is willing to support a candidate from Congress or NCP. Speaking at Nagpur airport, Raut emphasized that Thackeray did not seek the CM post in 2019 and is ready to support a new face for the 2024 elections.

Uddhav Thackeray stated that the party with the most MLAs should not automatically get the Chief Minister post, citing past experiences with BJP. He expressed readiness to support any candidate chosen by the alliance, including Prithviraj Chavan or Pawar Saheb.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar explained that high security demands in Jammu and Kashmir are delaying the announcement of Maharashtra elections. He mentioned that the elections in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Delhi are scheduled around the same time, making it challenging to allocate security forces.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance has gained momentum with the recent Lok Sabha poll results, where Shiv Sena (UBT) won seven seats, Congress 13, and NCP-SP one, totaling 17 seats for the alliance.
