Punjab Police Arrest Key Drug Smuggler Gulab Singh in 77kg Heroin Case
Faridkot, Punjab – Punjab’s Faridkot Police have arrested Gulab Singh, the main suspect in a 77kg heroin recovery case, according to a senior police official.

Gulab Singh was arrested as part of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s campaign to make Punjab a drug-free state. The arrest was announced by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
The arrest comes about a year after the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Fazilka busted two cross-border drug smuggling rackets, recovering 77.8kg of heroin and three pistols. Gulab Singh played a key role in delivering 36kg of the contraband and maintaining connections with Pakistan-based smugglers.
Impact of the Arrest
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that Gulab Singh’s arrest is expected to significantly disrupt the smuggling network and prevent future trafficking activities. The police are also conducting financial investigations to trace and freeze assets acquired through drug proceeds.
Operation Details
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Faridkot Dr. Pragya Jain shared that the arrest was the result of a meticulous technical and human-intel based operation. Police teams from CIA Faridkot, Special Branch, SHO Sadiq, and Technical Cell, under the supervision of SP Investigation Jasmeet Singh, rounded up Gulab Singh from a bus stand in the village of Rupyianwali.
Gulab Singh, a seasoned criminal, has been facing several criminal cases in Faridkot and other districts of Punjab. He had arranged for divers to retrieve the consignment of heroin and weapons and was in touch with Pakistan-based smugglers via various apps.
