VVS Laxman to Continue as Head of National Cricket Academy for Another Year

Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman will extend his term as the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru by at least a year. Laxman, who took over in December 2021, was initially set to complete his term in September. An IPL franchise showed interest in him, but his NCA duties took precedence.

Laxman will be supported by coaches Shitanshu Kotak, Sairaj Bahutule, and Hrishikesh Kanitkar. The NCA, established in 2000, is set to inaugurate a new facility soon.

About VVS Laxman

During his playing days, Laxman represented Team India in 134 Tests, scoring 8,781 runs with an average of 45.97. He also played 86 ODIs, scoring 2,338 runs at an average of 30.76.

National Cricket Academy

The NCA, located in Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, Karnataka, was established in 2000 to train young cricketers and help injured players rehabilitate. The new facility’s foundation stone was laid by former BCCI president Saurav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah, and Laxman in February 2022.
