Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in celebrating the 78th Independence Day from the iconic Red Fort in New Delhi. During the ceremony, PM Modi unfurled the National Flag and delivered a speech emphasizing the achievements of women in various sectors, including the Air Force.

PM Modi announced that maternity leave for working women has been increased from 12 weeks to 26 weeks. He also highlighted that 10 crore women have joined self-help groups in the last 10 years, becoming financially independent. To date, 9 lakh crores have been allocated to these groups.

On this occasion, Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, praised the contributions of women to the nation’s progress. She emphasized the importance of empowering and uplifting women for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

The Ministry of Women and Child Development hosted 161 special guests, including women workers from various empowerment schemes, for the Independence Day celebrations. These guests toured iconic landmarks in New Delhi and interacted with senior officials.

The 78th Independence Day Ceremony was a celebration of India’s freedom and a tribute to those who have contributed to the nation’s progress, looking forward to a future filled with hope and prosperity.
