Four junior doctors from RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata have been called by the police for questioning regarding the murder and alleged sexual assault of a second-year postgraduate student. The incident occurred last week and has caused widespread outrage and protests.

Police Investigation

The junior doctors, who had dinner with the deceased, are not accused but are being questioned. The police have also summoned the Head of Department, Assistant Super, nurses, group-d staff, and security members for questioning.

Incident Details

The body of the postgraduate trainee doctor was found raped and murdered inside the hospital on August 9. This has led to protests and an indefinite strike by doctors and students across multiple states, demanding justice for the victim.

Government Response

Mamata Banerjee has urged the police to arrest the accused quickly and mentioned that if the case is not solved soon, it will be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). She also called for the establishment of a fast-track court to handle the case.
