Shillong (Meghalaya) [India], August 13: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the situation at the international border due to political unrest in Bangladesh.

High Alert and Night Curfew

CM Sangma stated that Meghalaya police are on high alert and a night curfew has been imposed along the international border to enhance security. He mentioned that the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Army are strictly monitoring the situation.

Government’s Assurance

During the meeting, the Home Minister assured that the Government of India would not allow any individuals to cross the border and would take all necessary steps to secure it. CM Sangma also requested additional manpower along the borders, to which the Home Minister agreed to examine and take necessary action.

Increased Security Measures

The BSF has tightened security along the Indo-Bangladesh border, increasing deployment at border outposts and utilizing all surveillance equipment for effective monitoring. The Ministry of Home Affairs has formed a committee led by the Additional Director General (ADG) of the BSF Eastern Command to monitor the situation.

The committee includes the ADG of BSF Eastern Command as Chairman, IG of BSF Frontier HQ South Bengal, IG of BSF Frontier HQ Tripura, Member (Planning and Development) of LPAI, and Secretary of LPAI.
