Assam to Create 52-Episode Documentary on Hero Lachit Borphukan with Prasar Bharati

The Assam government, led by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, has signed an MoU with Prasar Bharati to produce a 52-episode documentary on the legendary Ahom general Lachit Borphukan. The signing ceremony took place at Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati.

The MoU was signed by Meenakshi Das, Director of the Cultural Affairs Department, and Amit Kumar, DDG of Doordarshan. The documentary aims to promote Borphukan’s valor, dedication, and patriotism on a global stage.

Chief Minister Dr. Sarma expressed gratitude to Prasar Bharati for their collaboration and highlighted the documentary’s role in showcasing Assam’s rich historical and cultural heritage. He also announced plans for a high-quality three-hour movie on Lachit Borphukan.

Dr. Sarma emphasized the importance of respecting Assam’s unique culture, history, and heritage in the documentary’s production. The Cultural Affairs Department will provide expertise to assist Prasar Bharati.

The event was attended by Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora, Chief Secretary Dr. Ravi Kota, Principal Secretary to Cultural Affairs B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, DG Prasar Bharati Kanchan Prasad, and other dignitaries.
