University of Delhi Climbs to 6th Place in National Rankings

The University of Delhi (DU) has made significant progress in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024, moving up five spots to secure the 6th position. This achievement was attributed to the collective efforts of the university’s faculty, students, and staff, according to Vice Chancellor Professor Yogesh Singh.

Overall Ranking Improvement

In addition to its rise in the university category, DU also climbed seven places in the overall ranking, securing the 15th spot. The Ministry of Education announced the NIRF 2024 rankings on Monday.

Top Universities in India

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, has been ranked as the best university for the 9th consecutive year. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), both in New Delhi, secured the second and third positions, respectively.

DU Colleges Shine

Six of DU’s colleges are ranked among the top 10 in the country, with three occupying the top spots. Hindu College is ranked first, Miranda House second, and St. Stephen’s College third. Additionally, Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College is ranked 5th, Kirori Mal College 9th, and Lady Shri Ram College for Women 10th.

Research Institute Category

DU also showed notable improvement in the Research Institute category, advancing three positions to secure 14th place, up from 17th last year.

Professor Singh expressed optimism that the University of Delhi and its affiliated colleges will continue to excel in future rankings, setting new records across all categories.
