Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited Kathmandu, Nepal, for a two-day official trip at the invitation of Nepali Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal. Misri arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday and was welcomed by Sewa Lamsal at the VIP Lounge of Tribhuvan International Airport.

Special Prayers at Pashupatinath Temple

On Monday, Misri offered special prayers at the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu. This visit is part of India’s commitment to its Neighbourhood First policy.

Meeting with Nepalese Prime Minister

Misri met with Nepalese Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli at the PM Office and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar palace. They discussed various matters of mutual interest. The Nepal Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the visit is part of the regular exchange of visits between the two friendly neighbors.

No Official Agreements

According to a source from the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, no official agreements or decisions were made during this visit. It was an introductory visit and a courtesy call from the Indian Foreign Secretary.
