New Zealand Announces Squad for Tests Against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka

New Zealand has named a strong squad for the upcoming Test matches against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. The team, led by experienced fast bowler Tim Southee, includes key players such as Devon Conway, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra, and Kane Williamson.

Coach Gary Stead highlighted the importance of managing the workloads of pace bowlers due to the challenging conditions expected in the sub-continent. He mentioned that all bowling options might be needed across the different Tests.

The Kiwis will play a single Test against Afghanistan in Noida, India, from September 9-13, followed by two ICC World Test Championship matches against Sri Lanka in Galle from September 18-22 and September 26-30. These matches are crucial for New Zealand’s quest to qualify for the World Test Championship final, with the team currently in third place behind India and Australia.

After the series in Sri Lanka, New Zealand will face India in a three-match series away from home in October and November, followed by another three-game series at home against England at the end of the year.
