External Affairs Minister Jaishankar’s Visit to Maldives: Strengthening Ties and Inaugurating Projects

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar concluded his visit to Maldives on Sunday. During his visit to Male, he signed MoUs on capacity building and inaugurated six High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs).

Meetings with Maldivian Leaders

Jaishankar met with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu and Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer. He extended greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed bilateral relations. Muizzu appreciated India’s developmental assistance and reaffirmed his commitment to deepening the India-Maldives relationship.

Inaugurations and Projects

Jaishankar, along with Maldivian leaders, inaugurated India’s Line of Credit-assisted water and sewerage project in 28 islands. He also visited the Greater Male Connectivity Project site and reviewed its progress.

Other Interactions

Jaishankar met with various Maldivian ministers to discuss strengthening trade and economic ties. He also interacted with the Indian community in Male and appreciated their contributions.

Addu City Visit

In Addu city, Jaishankar inaugurated the Addu Reclamation and Shore Protection Project and the Addu Detour Link Bridge Project.

The visit highlights the importance of Maldives as a key partner in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and Vision SAGAR.
