Gold Smuggling Ring Busted at Lucknow Airport: Six Arrested

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has successfully dismantled a gold smuggling syndicate operating through Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport.

Details of the Arrest

Six individuals were arrested, including two passengers, two ground staff members, the mastermind behind the operation, and his accomplice. The arrests were made under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.

Seized Items

During the operation, officials seized:

  • 3 kg of smuggled gold valued at USD 213,000
  • 6,440 Thai Baht
  • INR 1,00,000

The total estimated value of the seized items is Rs 3.96 crore.
