Indian Government Forms Committee to Monitor India-Bangladesh Border

The Indian government has established a five-member committee to oversee the current situation at the India-Bangladesh border. This announcement was made by the Border Management Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

Committee Members

The committee will be led by Ravi Gandhi, Additional Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Eastern Command. Other members include:

  • Inspector General (IG), BSF Frontier HQ South Bengal
  • Inspector General (IG), BSF Frontier HQ Tripura
  • Member (Planning and Development), Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI)
  • Secretary, LPAI

Purpose of the Committee

The committee will maintain communication channels with their counterparts in Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Indian citizens and minority communities in Bangladesh.

Announcement by Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also announced the formation of the committee through a post on X. He emphasized that the committee’s role is to monitor the situation and ensure the safety and security of Indian nationals, Hindus, and other minority communities living in Bangladesh.

Eastern Command -: This is a part of the BSF that looks after the eastern side of India, including the border with Bangladesh.

Union Home Minister -: The Union Home Minister is a very important person in the Indian government who looks after the country’s internal security. Right now, it is Amit Shah.

Amit Shah -: Amit Shah is a senior leader in the Indian government and the current Union Home Minister.

Minority Communities -: These are groups of people who are fewer in number compared to the main population. In this context, it refers to certain groups in Bangladesh.
