On August 9, Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar paid homage to freedom fighters on the 81st anniversary of the historic ‘Quit India Movement’. This decisive campaign against British rule was launched on August 8, 1942, following Mahatma Gandhi’s powerful ‘Do or Die’ speech at the Bombay session of the Congress.
Dhankhar called on members of the Upper House to reaffirm their commitment to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India and to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation. He emphasized that the ‘Quit India’ call is even more relevant today and highlighted the movement as an example of what people can achieve when they work together with determination and dedication.
