Dhaka [Bangladesh], August 8: Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus will take the oath tonight to lead Bangladesh’s interim government. The ceremony, expected to be attended by around 400 dignitaries, will take place at 8:00 pm local time. This comes three days after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and the cabinet was dissolved.

Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman announced that the interim government might include 15 members, though their names and tenure were not disclosed. He expressed hope that normalcy would return within a few days and assured that those involved in recent crimes would face legal action.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin approved the proposal to appoint Yunus as the head of the interim government, following student protests. General Waker-Uz-Zaman praised Yunus’s eagerness to take responsibility and believed he would successfully lead the country towards democracy.

General Waker-Uz-Zaman also commended students and volunteers for maintaining order and cleanliness in the absence of police. He assured that the army, navy, and air force were committed to supporting the people and restoring normalcy.

Yunus called for calm and urged citizens to avoid violence, emphasizing the importance of building a peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh for future generations.
