Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini Approves New Housing Policy for Urban Families
The Haryana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has approved significant changes to the ‘Mukhya Mantri Shehri Awas Yojana’ (MMSAY). These changes aim to address the housing needs of urban families with an annual income up to Rs 1.80 lakhs, as verified by the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP).
Extended Payment Periods
Under the revised policy, beneficiaries who have been allotted 1 Marla (30 sq. yards) plots will now have more time to make payments. The period for depositing the allotment amount of Rs 10,000 has been doubled to two months. Additionally, the time period for paying the remaining Rs 80,000 has been extended to three years, with monthly payments allowed.
Refunds and Transfers
The policy now includes provisions for refunds and the transfer of allotments in the event of a beneficiary’s death. Beneficiaries can request a refund of the principal amount without any penalties before possession. In case of a beneficiary’s death, the allotment can be transferred to their legal heir upon submission of the death certificate and a no-objection certificate from other legal heirs if applicable.
Beneficiary Details
The department has allotted 1 Marla (30 sq. yards) plots at the cost of Rs 1 lakh to 15,250 beneficiaries from various categories, including Ghumantu Jati, widows, and Scheduled Castes, across 14 locations: Charkhi-Dadri, Fatehabad, Jhajjar, Karnal, Panchkula, Mahendragarh, Sirsa, Sonipat, Palwal, Rohtak, Rewari, Julana, Safidon, and Yamunanagar.
