NDRF Rescues Seven Fishermen in Gujarat’s Valsad Amid Heavy Rainfall

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully rescued seven fishermen who were stranded in Hinglaj village, located in the Valsad district of Gujarat. The rescue operation was carried out early Monday due to heavy rainfall and a high tide in the Auranga River.

Details of the Rescue Operation

Inspector Ramesh Kumar from the NDRF stated, “We received information from the district administration that seven persons were stranded in Hinglaj village because of continuous rainfall and high tide in the Auranga River. The water from the river reached the nearest low-lying areas. The people stranded are fishermen, and they had no option but to get out because the water level had risen significantly. We have rescued them.”

Impact of Heavy Rainfall in Gujarat

Many districts in Gujarat, including Valsad, have been experiencing heavy rains over the past few days. On Saturday, daily activities were disrupted in several parts of Vapi in Valsad due to waterlogging caused by heavy rain. Earlier, on August 2, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned of the possibility of rain and thundershowers for the next five days in several parts of Gujarat.

Previous Rescue Operations

In addition to the recent rescue in Valsad, the NDRF has been actively involved in evacuating people from flood-affected areas in Gujarat. In Navsari district, the NDRF rescued five people, including a child and an ailing woman, from the flood-affected area in Mithila Nagari. At least 30 people were rescued from Navsari. Amid the deluge-like conditions, Navsari Municipality prepared 20,000 food packets for those stuck in the flood-affected areas of the city.
