PM Modi and President Murmu Express Grief Over Wall Collapse in Madhya Pradesh
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed his condolences to the families of nine children who lost their lives after a wall collapsed in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. In a post from the Prime Minister’s Office, he said, “The accident caused by the wall collapse in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh is heartbreaking. My condolences to the bereaved families of the children who lost their lives in this. May God give them strength to bear this pain. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured.”
PM Modi announced Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. An official statement from the PMO confirmed this.
Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu also expressed her grief over the deaths. She said, “I am saddened by the news of the death of many innocent children in a heart-wrenching accident in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. I pray that God gives strength to the bereaved parents and family members to bear this pain. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured children.”
Officials reported that the incident occurred around 8.30 am, likely due to heavy rain the previous night. Minister Govind Rajput stated that the administration is actively addressing the issue. The Chief Minister announced Rs 4 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for the injured. District Collector Deepak Arya confirmed that local police and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and began rescue operations. “Nine children have died in the incident. Two others have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” Arya said.
