On August 1, Sergei Kislyak, the First Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs, met with India’s Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar. They discussed important international and regional issues and emphasized the significance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first foreign visit to Russia after his re-election.

The meeting also highlighted the positive dynamics of cooperation within BRICS under the Russian Chairmanship in 2024. Both parties reaffirmed the strategic nature of their countries’ relations and stressed the importance of developing inter-parliamentary ties.

Earlier, Ambassador Kumar inaugurated the One District One Product (ODOP) exhibition, showcasing products from 20 districts of India. The exhibition, organized by the Indian Embassy in association with the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, will run from August 1 to August 4.

Additionally, the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre in Moscow organized Nritya Manjari, the first All-Russia Indian Dance competition. This event allowed Russian citizens to showcase their talent in various Indian dance forms, promoting cultural exchange and highlighting the beauty of Indian dance.
