New Delhi, India – MS Dhoni, the legendary Indian cricketer and captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is considering his future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). At 43, Dhoni is taking a wait-and-watch approach before deciding whether to play next season. He wants to see the rules and regulations related to player retention before making a decision.
Speaking at an event in Hyderabad, Dhoni said, “There is a lot of time for it. We have to see what decision they take on player retention etc. Right now, the ball is not in our court. So, once the rules and regulations get formalised, I will take a call, but needs to be in the best interest of the team.”
Despite undergoing knee surgery, Dhoni played in the 2024 season and had a strong performance. He scored 161 runs in 11 innings at an average of 53.66 and a strike rate of 220.54, with his best score being 37*. He hit a total of 14 fours and 13 sixes during the season. However, CSK missed the playoffs, finishing fifth with 14 points and a total of seven wins and seven losses.
