Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi Discusses Development Plans After Meeting with PM Modi
After a four-day visit to New Delhi, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi shared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is placing special emphasis on the development of Odisha. Majhi mentioned that significant changes are expected in the state over the next five years.

Speaking at the airport, CM Majhi said, “I participated in the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting chaired by the Prime Minister and presented demands concerning the important aspects of Odisha’s development. We have significant responsibilities for the first five years of the upcoming 12-year period leading up to 2036. Odisha is given primary importance in the initiative by Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister places special emphasis on the development of Odisha.”
He added, “The proposals I have made at the NITI Aayog meeting will be implemented, and there will be significant changes in Odisha in the next five years. For the development of Odisha, the focus is on developing 480 kilometres of coastline, port-based industries, tourism, the IT sector, and the development of tribal communities.”
Budget Criticism from Former CM Naveen Patnaik
After the new BJP government led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented its first state budget, former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik criticized it as a ‘Name Changer.’ Patnaik claimed that 80% of the schemes in the new budget were repeats of his administration’s initiatives.
In a post on X, Patnaik said, “Congratulations to the new government of Odisha on presenting its first budget and a special congratulation for repeating more than 80 per cent of the schemes implemented by our government. More than 80 per cent of your budget allocation, flows towards the schemes formulated by the BJD Government.”

The Rs 2.65 lakh crore budget for the 2024-25 fiscal was presented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, who also holds the finance portfolio. This budget exceeds the previous year’s forecast of Rs 2.30 lakh crore by almost 15%.
