Madhya Pradesh Wine Shop Fined for Misleading Banner
A wine shop in Burhanpur, Madhya Pradesh, displayed a banner that read ‘Din Dahade Angreji Bolna Sikhe,’ which means ‘Learn to Speak English in Broad Daylight.’ This banner was put up near the liquor shop in the Nachankheda locality and had an arrow pointing towards the shop.
The banner went viral on social media, causing public outrage. The district administration quickly removed the banner and fined the shop owner Rs 10,000. District Excise Officer Virendra Dhakad explained that the banner was spreading misinformation and was not appropriate.
The shop owner claimed that the banner was put up by someone else to defame him, but his explanation was rejected. Students passing by the banner also expressed strong objections, saying it encouraged youth to consume alcohol and speak English. They demanded immediate removal of such posters and action against the shop operator.
