Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], July 27: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is closely monitoring the situation in areas affected by waterlogging due to heavy rains. He has instructed all district magistrates to stay alert and coordinate with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other rescue teams.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) reported that Dhami has urged residents to leave their homes only for essential work, as the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert. He emphasized that the safety of the state’s residents and travelers is the top priority.

Earlier, rescue teams recovered the body of a woman named Sarita Devi, who was buried under debris from a landslide in Ghansali. The landslide, triggered by heavy rain, trapped Sarita Devi and her daughter in their home. The disaster control room was notified at around 3 am, and rescue teams, including the SDRF led by Chief Constable Kuldeep Singh, arrived promptly to start the rescue operation.

Heavy rains have caused multiple landslides in Uttarakhand, blocking the highway to Badrinath at several points.
