Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to Boycott NITI Aayog Meeting Over Fund Allocation

On Wednesday, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced in the Telangana Legislative Assembly that his government would boycott the NITI Aayog meeting scheduled for July 27. This decision is a protest against the central government’s alleged unfair allocation of funds to Telangana in the Union Budget.

Reddy stated, “As a mark of protest against the Central Government, we, the Telangana Government, are boycotting the NITI Aayog meeting to be held on July 27th. The Centre has violated the rights of Telangana. There is injustice to the state in the allocation of funds.”

He also criticized the previous BRS government and challenged former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to join him in a Deeksha protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Reddy said, “Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao and Thanneeru Harish Rao have talked about a protest Deeksha for the benefit of Telangana state. Surely, tell Chandrashekhar Rao to come to Jantar Mantar. Chandrashekhar Rao and me, Chandrashekhar Rao as Leader of Opposition and me as Leader of the House, we are ready to either bring funds to Telangana or even die if necessary. Fix a date and bring Chandrashekhar Rao.”

Reddy further questioned Rao’s absence in crucial discussions, suggesting that the BRS Chief might be avoiding sessions due to fear of scrutiny from Prime Minister Modi.

On Tuesday, Reddy criticized the central government’s slogan ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ calling it bogus. He said, “The Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas slogan is bogus. This budget looks like the Kursi Bachao Budget. Apart from Bihar and Andhra Pradesh, no state has been given anything; it looks like the PM is trying to save his chair. Telangana has given 35 percent votes to the BJP and eight Parliament seats.”
