UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy made his first official visit to New Delhi, India. During his visit, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Strengthening Bilateral Relations

India and the UK agreed to intensify their collaboration in various areas such as defence, security, trade, and investment. Both countries reviewed the Roadmap 2030, which was agreed upon during the India-UK Virtual Summit in 2021. They expressed satisfaction with the progress and aimed to renew the roadmap to further enhance their cooperation.

Global and Regional Issues

Jaishankar and Lammy exchanged views on global issues such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the situation in West Asia and the Red Sea, the Commonwealth, and the UN Security Council.

Future Plans

After his visit to India, David Lammy is scheduled to attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Laos to advance UK economic partnerships and unveil new cooperation on climate and health.
