Congress MP KC Venugopal Criticizes Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Over Union Budget 2024
New Delhi [India], July 24: Congress MP KC Venugopal has accused Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman of misleading the country regarding the Union Budget 2024. Venugopal stated, ‘Actually, she is misleading the country. Anyway, she is going to reply on the Budget. She should tell us what she is giving to Kerala, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Maharashtra.’
Venugopal also pointed out that in her 1 hour 40 minutes long speech, Sitharaman did not mention major states like Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. He claimed, ‘She only misled the House.’
In response, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman called the opposition’s claims ‘outrageous’ and a deliberate attempt to mislead people. She challenged the Congress party, saying, ‘I would challenge the Congress party that for all the budget speeches they have delivered. Have they named every state of the country in each of their budget speeches? This is an outrageous allegation.’
Earlier, INDIA bloc MPs held a protest in the Parliament complex against the Union Budget, presented by Sitharaman. They raised slogans like ‘Opposition virodhi kursi bachao Budget murda baad’ and held placards, claiming that the Budget is ‘discriminatory’ in nature.
