DK Shivakumar Discusses Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill with Stakeholders
Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar announced that the opinions of all stakeholders would be considered before finalizing the Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill 2024. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly, he emphasized the importance of including all leaders and stakeholders in the decision-making process.
Opposition leaders, including R Ashoka and BJP MLAs Ashwathnarayan and Suresh Kumar, opposed the tabling of the Bill. Shivakumar assured that the Bill would not be finalized without consensus and highlighted the need for incremental changes to address Bengaluru’s rapid growth.
Shivakumar stated, “Bengaluru belongs to everyone. We will factor in opinions and suggestions of all leaders and stakeholders before finalizing the Bill.” He also mentioned that the Bill was discussed in the Cabinet meeting and that Opposition leaders’ approval was necessary.
Leader of Opposition R Ashoka expressed his desire to discuss the Bill further in a meeting scheduled for July 27. In response, Shivakumar humorously acknowledged Ashoka’s electoral defeat in Kanakapura, stating, “Kanakapura belongs to you too, the people voted for you too in the last election!”
