BJP Leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor Criticizes AAP’s Atishi Over Defamation Case

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor, who filed a defamation case against Delhi Minister Atishi, criticized her for joining the ‘Jail and Bail’ group of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders. Kapoor remarked, ‘From today onwards, Atishi has joined the ‘Jail and Bail’ group of AAP leaders. Now, this will continue. It would have been better if she had apologized and settled this issue. However, she wants to take some time.’

Kapoor referred to multiple AAP leaders in jail, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and former Minister Satyendra Jain. AAP’s Sanjay Singh is out on bail.

The Rouse Avenue Court granted bail to Atishi in the defamation case. She appeared physically and furnished the bail bond. Kapoor noted that Atishi is following the ‘judicial procedure’ and the next hearing is on August 8.

Meanwhile, Kapoor’s lawyer, Shoumendu Mukherji, mentioned that although there was an attempt to ‘linger on the matter,’ Atishi has accepted the court’s procedure without challenging the order.

Atishi had alleged that the BJP approached her to join their party or face arrest by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED). She accused the BJP-led Centre of using probe agencies to threaten AAP leaders. Atishi vowed to continue her political work under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, despite the threats.
