BJP MLA from Katihar, Tarkishore Prasad, has responded to the INDIA bloc leaders’ protests about the demand for special status for Bihar. He emphasized the extensive reforms announced in the Union Budget 2024-25 for the state.

Prasad highlighted several key investments and projects aimed at boosting Bihar’s development, which were announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. These include:

  • Three new expressways
  • Rs 26,000 crores allocated for infrastructure development
  • New medical colleges
  • A 2400 MW power plant at Pirpainti costing Rs 21,400 crore
  • New airports and sports infrastructure
  • Rs 11,500 crore for flood control measures
  • Development of temple corridors and the implementation of the Kashi Model in Bodh Gaya

Prasad criticized the opposition leaders for using the demand for special status as a political tool, stating that Bihar’s progress is better supported through the announced budget measures.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also mentioned that the budget includes support for human resource development, infrastructure, and economic opportunities in Bihar and other eastern states like Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh. She emphasized that these measures aim to make the eastern region an engine for achieving a developed India.
