BJP MLA Golu Shukla Supports UP’s New Rule for Kanwar Yatra Eateries

BJP MLA Golu Shukla from Indore-3 assembly constituency voiced his support for the Uttar Pradesh government’s order for eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route to display the names of their owners. Shukla, who organizes the Baneshwari Kanwar Yatra, sees no issue with the directive.

Shukla explained that the Baneshwari Kanwar Yatra, which he has organized for 21 years, will start from Maheshwar with a ‘Dugdh Abhishek’ to the Narmada river on July 22 and continue until July 29. The yatra will conclude with an offering of water to Baba Mahakal at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, typically involving around 5,000 participants.

Regarding the UP directive, Shukla said, “Shopkeepers should indeed display their names and identities outside their shops. There is nothing wrong with this. We support what UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said.” He mentioned he would discuss a similar directive with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

Shukla emphasized that the directive is not about dividing communities, noting that the Muslim community has welcomed the Kanwar Yatras in various cities for years. The UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s mandate aims to maintain the pilgrimage’s sanctity and has sparked political debate.
