UKPNP Leaders Challenge Legitimacy of PoJK Accession

Statements by Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri and Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan

On Friday, UKPNP chairman Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri and senior leader Sardar Nasir Aziz Khan stated that the accession of Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) holds no legitimacy. They criticized the 1947 resolution by the Muslim Conference advocating for Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan, calling it controversial and illegitimate.

The UKPNP leaders emphasized that the Muslim Conference was not the sole representative party of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. They argued that resolutions and unilateral decisions imposed at gunpoint on the people of PoJK are unacceptable and lack legitimacy.

Upcoming Convention in Kotli

The UKPNP has scheduled a two-day convention in Kotli on August 24 and 25 to address developmental issues faced by the people of PoJK. The convention will coincide with the 7th Congress of the UKPNP and will focus on the oppressive actions of the Pakistani state.

The press statement highlighted that tensions in PoJK have risen, with various sections of society, including workers, farmers, women, youth, students, and the working class, uniting against Pakistan’s anti-people and divisive actions. The struggle aims to eliminate discrimination, exploitation, and forced division.
