Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the functioning of the Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and directed agencies to increase engagement and adopt a whole-of-government approach towards national security. Shah chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi with heads of various security and law enforcement agencies.

Shah emphasized greater synergy between all agencies to dismantle terror networks and their supporting ecosystems. He stressed the importance of making MAC a cohesive platform for law enforcement, anti-drug, cyber security, and intelligence agencies to take decisive and prompt action.

During the meeting, Shah instructed the heads of security and intelligence agencies to ensure MAC operates 24/7 for proactive and real-time sharing of actionable intelligence. He also called for a team of young, technically proficient officers to use big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to dismantle the terror ecosystem.

Shah reiterated the need to stay ahead of emerging security challenges and highlighted the ongoing technical and operational revamp of the MAC framework under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The meeting followed recent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of several Indian Army personnel and innocent people.
